12th November, 2004. 10:04 am. Much better day

Today is a better day, really.
More to do, a Friday, that's great.

I'm in the middle of a new search and today more candidates answered than usual. That's a quite good thing. I hate it if they don't even say if they are interested or not. Because if they're only interested in USA or UK or so, I can forward the CV or wait for an opportunity in that country. But if they don't answer at all, I only waste time, theirs and mine. That's depressing.

Nothing much else new here. I'm looking forward to the weekend. :)

Current mood: working.

11th November, 2004. 3:08 pm. I've been lazy. I'll try to be better. :)

Very well. It's been a while since I posted something here, so please forgive me. I was ill a bit and in holidays a bit and afterwards there was nothing special to report. Nothing to be exact. Slowly but surely I get the impression that nobody is wanting to apply for anything at the moment. Monster's nearly empty and the other jobboards are similar.

I really have to find a new way of networking that takes a bit of my time, as I'm desperately trying to fill my days right now. There's only so often that one can look through the same job board and not go mad.

I'm trying to get some referrals, but somehow this path is quite closed right now, too. Everywhere the end of year is disturbingly busy, not here, though. Perhaps I'll find a nice Semiconductor Forum somewhere, where I can spend some time each day. If someone has an idea, tell me. :)

Current mood: bored.

15th October, 2004. 9:12 am. Back at work

I was ill most of the week. It was really bad because I was in bed most of the time. Slept a lot. Now I'm mainly tired. :) I hope this Friday will be over soon and I can sleep.

Work didn't pile as much as I expected, though there was a lot waiting for me yesterday nonetheless. It didn't crush me beneath a pile of paperwork, though. That's good. I'll have a big amout of it to leaf through today, though.

Today I didn't even start with coffee. Though I think Coke isn't much better. (I know, it's worse. I'm bad... :) )

It was a short update because I still have a lot to do. Have a nice Friday, people!

Current mood: working.

7th October, 2004. 3:28 pm. A small update

Today's not very much on.
I'm searching, I'm writing mails with candidates and I try to get an info from the internet and that stubborn thing doesn't want to yield to me... :)
Ah well, such things happen.

The weather's become pretty okay now. This morning it was cold, grey and dark. I never quite wake up then. But a few cups of coffee and some work got me going again. :)
Coffee count: 5 - soon to be 6
Right now the sun _sometimes_ comes out. That's okay, it's October after all.

That was my update. Like I said, nothing much happened today.
More coffee!!! :)

Current mood: indifferent.

6th October, 2004. 10:16 am. Much to do

Today's a much better day than yesterday. I'm feeling good, the weather's great and the work's fun.

We just had an information meeting where we got additional information for the new positions we're recruiting for.

Just for the files:
Location: Germany
Positions:
- Product & Process Engineers for Smart Power Technology
- Project Manager for Technology Transfer and Development
- Single Process Engineers (Litho, Etching, etc.)
- Wafer Test Engineers
Industries: Semiconductor, Automotive

The main points I thought very interesting were, that they are looking for people with a wide range of experience, not just centered in one of the technology parts, and that they are also considering people above the "red line" of age 50. The main part is that they have a high mobility and at least the willingness to learn a bit of German.

If anyone of you knows someone that fits, let me know. :)

Am at my second cup of coffee today. That's okay. I let it start slowly. :)
Will go a-searching again :)

Current mood: productive.

5th October, 2004. 3:32 pm. Ah well...

It's one of those days again...
Started perfect, we have a very nice weather and not too much stress, so it's okay.

But the coffee is bad today. Tastes like cardboard. Don't ask me why, we haven't found out yet.

Another thing: my mobile.
I got a new mobile yesterday evening and it's quite neat and everything. Something flashy with a camera and internet. Why do they have to have all these things? I just want to phone with it if need is there. Anyways, I tried to get a new sound for it because the ones that are on it are a bit... strange. I don't want my mobile to sound like that. Found a nice one on my provider homepage and tried to get it.
Didn't work.
Why?
Because I need GPRS for it.
Idiotic, isn't it?
Phoned the hotline today. They got me the GPRS infos via fax and that should be it. I'll try it later.
And now it refuses to let me type a SMS.
Damn thing.
Will get around it eventually, I always do. Even if I feel very stupid right now. But it wasn't in the manual, so at least I did try.
But it frustrated me to no ends.

So, will get back to the jobsite now. Have to find good candidates. :)
I don't feel quite well but it's no wonder with all those ill people around. Hope I didn't catch myself a virus. Don't want to be ill now.

Current mood: frustrated.

4th October, 2004. 11:56 am. Monday Monday

Good Morning Life!

It's a bit of a typical Monday today. I've overslept (somehow), but thankfully not too much, and it's terribly much to do here, so I'm in a bit of a rushed mood. But that's typical for Mondays and I don't mind somehow because so I know that I do have a job which tries me constantly and won't get boring. :) I'm in a very good mood today.

Only got one cup of coffee today until now. Didn't have the time to get up and get another. :) Ah well, that's okay too. ;)

Had my monthly today with my boss. We got to the conclusion that September was a very slow month and that I have to get my results up. :/ Not quite sure how I'm going to manage that, but I will try very hard. It's a fun job and I like everything here, so I'm going to get my results up any way possible. I wanna help here! ;)

I'm also very happy that my entry in the engineer forum has gotten so much response. That's very much appreciated, really. And it's fun to keep a livejournal. Life is good today. :)

So, have to get back to work. Much to do and a meeting coming in... oops, a minute ago. :)

Current mood: cheerful.

1st October, 2004. 3:19 pm. Finishing Touches

Ah, it's only two hours left till weekend. I'm quite energetic right now and am trying to get as much as possible done before the weekend. Already phoned around a bit and got some informations for a collegue of mine. Sometimes it is of merit to have knowledge of how secretaries work. :) Have been one prior to this job, I think I mentioned that before actually. Anyways, knowing how such offices work is very good if you want informations. :)

My sixth cup of coffee and I'm relaxed. ;) I won't be stressed anymore today. Don't let hectic creep up on me. I'll work as much as is comfy today and the rest will be transferred to Monday. I think that's okay, especially after yesterday.

Got some very nice contact with a candidate of mine today. He's a sweetheart, really. Very nice guy. We chatted mostly about the weather and about his opportunity (only on the side) and he told me a bit about his working day. He's a tester in the automotive industry, and it sounds very interesting what he's doing. :) I love hearing what my candidates are actually doing, and I love even more if I understand what they are trying to describe. :)

It's raining cats and dogs outside, really. I hope it'll rain itself dry until today evening and I can go out without getting too wet. It's not bothering me yet. Yet.... ;)

That's it for today, I think. Do post some comments over the weekend if you want. I'm always happy to get in touch with everyone. Am very communicative at the moment?

Current mood: bouncy.

1st October, 2004. 10:59 am. It's Friday!

Today I won't let myself be hurried. It's Friday! My favourite day of the week! I've already translated some job specs an really have to say I prefer English to German, even though German is my mother tongue. It sounds really horrible when people (i.e. me) try to translate English terminology into German. But it's work, too. :)

I'm already at my second cup of coffee and will go to my second cig of the day soon. It's quite a relaxed atmosphere today, even though all here have a lot to do. Did I mention that I love Fridays? :)

On Monday I'll go have a look through a Job Center called "CareerBuilder.com". Anyone experience with them, good or bad?

Current mood: content.

30th September, 2004. 5:16 pm. A lot to do

So now I'm being stressed. It's a bit much what we got in today. 75 positions to find people for! Hope I'll manage to find a lot of them.

Right now coffee is my best friend. I've already got my 6th cup today. Perhaps I should swich to tea again, but then I really like coffee at work.

Well, this is a short entry as I'm a bit in a hurry to start. Only have about one hour left today and want to make most of it. :)

Hope I'll get some comments soon. I'm really looking forward to some nice discussions about anything and everything. I'll see if this works out.

Current mood: productive.
